Learning About Being Safe

The Safety Village of South Dakota’s Children’s Safety Camps are now available to all family members as we transition to our new Family Safety Fairs. This year we are focusing on family safety by offing our Safety Fairs to children and their parents. The Family Safety Fair will provide children and parents with information and skills needed to keep your family safe in a variety of situations, and with the expertise and knowledge of our area safety partners.

Thunder Road is a fun park & mini-golf course offering go-karts, thrill rides, laser tag & other kid friendly games. This year Thunder Road and the Safety Village of South Dakota are teaming up to provide an opportunity for area families to come and learn about important safety topics while having fun. With the help of our community safety partners there will be stations with demonstrations and conversations on various safety topics such as; fire escape safety, CPR, 911 Call safety, passenger and driver safety, home safety, pet safety, poison safety, water and swimming safety, outdoor and weather safety and so much more! 

The Safety Village is excited to bring you “Lunch with Hero” our area First Responders will be on hand to have lunch with you and your children. Ask questions, have fun and learn about what it takes to be one of our area heroes! Thunder Road is providing lunch at a cost of $  . 

Come on out to Thunder Road and join the Safety Village and all our safety partners for life saving safety tips and the thrilling adventure of the Thunder Road complex.

  • Demonstrations by Sioux Falls Police Department, Avera, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Patient Care, Metro 911, SDK Kennels, National Weather Service, Outdoor Campus, SD EMS for Children, and Xcel Energy, Sanford Trauma, SD ENA, Avera Careflight.

Sioux Empire Fair – Safety House

August 8 – 12, 2022 – 11am to 3pm each day
W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds – Free with Fairground Admission

The Safety Village of South Dakota Children’s Safety Fair takes place each year during the Sioux Empire Fair August 5 – 13, 2022. Our Safety House will be open to the public, Monday, August 8 – Friday, August 12 from 11am to 3 pm each day. The Safety Village is excited to offer safety messages to help keep your children safe with our community safety partners to demonstrate various safety topics such as fire escape, CPR, passenger and driver safety, home, farm, weather safety and so much more! Stop on out to the Safety Village at the North end of the Fairgrounds and learn more about how to keep your children safe!

Our son and his friend had a great time at Safety Camp last year!  They had some great hands on activities and great information for kids.  Looking forward to when we can send him to Car Safety camp!  Thank you for having great programs for our kids!
